Who We Are

The multidisciplinary TBIC Advisory Council is a group of international FDI experts, that support the TBIC and its mission in an honorary position.

In their respective fields, they bridge the gaps between Europe and the United States and help the TBIC to provide a one-stop-shop for companies expanding to the U.S. They also help U.S. regions to better understand the background specific challenges of international companies.

The Advisory Council meets twice a year to share best-practices, to identify new synergies, and to strategize on future activities and services of the TBIC.

Matthias Beier

President & CEO, TBIC

Matt is President and CEO of the Transatlantic Business & Investment Council (TBIC) in Atlanta, GA and Berlin, Germany. Before he founded TBIC in 2016, he was in a management function of a Berlin-based boutique consultancy that supports European companies entering the international markets, with a strong focus on the United States. His previous experience of working for international projects of the German Energy Agency (dena) and the Federal Foreign Office of Germany helped him to build a strong international business network that made him find his true passion in connecting people from different industries and backgrounds worldwide. Matt holds a master degree of political science at Free University of Berlin and took part in international programs, among them University of Ljubljana in Slovenia and Harvard Business School.

Executive Director, Italy-America Chamber of Commerce

Alessia graduated from University of Pisa Law School, Italy, and later added a Master’s degree in Personnel Administration and Human Resources Management from the University of Bologna. Alessia was International Sales Manager and Production planning & scheduling for a large Italian shoe company for two years before becoming Director of Operations for CTT in 1997. CTT, a holding with 1200 employees, is responsible for public transportation services in the north-west area of Tuscany.

Alexander Kos is CEO of the Berlin based service agency for U.S. visas and U.S. entry. Alex has over 10 years of industry experience and advises companies interested in obtaining an appropriate visa for the United States, for instance when setting up a branch in the United States. Alex studied Law at the Humboldt University of Berlin with a focus on foreign law and loves to travel regularly to the United States since his exchange year in Philadelphia.

Andreas Eckstein

Managing Director, Invest in Niedersachsen

Dr. Andreas Eckstein is the Managing Director of Invest in Niedersachsen. He serves as a transatlantic liaison officer between the U.S. and Niedersachsen and assists companies on both sides of the Atlantic with their efforts of expanding their business by successfully exploring new target markets, doing so with over 15 years of experience. Previously, Dr. Eckstein served as an Innovation Manager at Hannover Re SE responsible for transferring innovative U.S. products and technologies to the European Market and investing in promising start-ups. Dr. Eckstein has studied in Columbia (South Carolina) and Goettingen (Germany) and holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration.

Ann Rybka is a Director with Atlas Insight. With almost 20 years of combined experience as a tax and incentive consultant, she is widely regarded as an expert in the industry providing her clients with location strategy and multi-state economic development and financial incentive negotiation services.

Ann’s primary responsibilities include the guidance of companies through the site selection process, as well as the review and implementation of state and local incentive packages including research, negotiation and documentation of these programs. She leads all project related negotiations, minimizing risk for her clients through the use of complex financial analysis which includes a 10-year P&L cash flow model for each project. In addition, Ann utilizes her legal background to provide creative savings solutions to her clients through legal analysis, tax legislation and letter rulings.

Charlotte Nytoft is the founder and owner of CNR-Consulting, a boutique consulting firm working with European companies entering the U. S. market through direct export, by establishing their own production or through joint venture partners. Charlotte brings experience from 25+ years in international trade and business development and has served as President of the Danish American Chamber of Commerce as well as Deputy Head of Mission at the Trade Council of Denmark in Atlanta where she has worked with 150+ companies to secure successful entry into the U.S. market. Charlotte is TBIC’s Specialist for the Nordic countries of Europe and is head of the Nordic TBIC Representation in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Chris Lloyd leads the McGuireWoods Consulting infrastructure and economic development team where he specializes in site selection and economic development incentives negotiations. Chris has also worked closely with clients on numerous public-private partnership projects for transportation and other infrastructure. His site selection clients include companies such as Lidl, Maersk, Hilton, and Gulfstream.

W. Ford Graham is a senior vice president on McGuireWoods Consulting’s national infrastructure and economic development team and a partner with McGuireWoods. He has extensive experience working in the economic development sector, recruiting international companies to the Southeastern United States.

During his career, he has been involved in over 123 new industry projects, which have resulted in more than 11,000 new jobs and $3.9 billion in new investment. Henning von Gersdorff worked for over 30 years as a Senior Relationship Manager in the corporate banking division of Commerzbank AG, including six years as a team leader at the International Desk of the New York Branch, USA. He also served for five years as a Director in the International Corporate Banking Department at the bank’s Frankfurt headquarters, where he focused on coordinating and enhancing collaboration between the German, American, and Asian branches and their corporate clients.

After concluding his successful career at Commerzbank in spring 2024, he is now dedicated to strengthening and supporting economic cooperation between Germany and the USA.

End of 2024, he assumed the position of Chairman of the German American Business Association.
