TBIC Annual Meeting & Conference 2018
Hilton Fort Wayne at the Grand Wayne Convention Center, Fort Wayne, IN, October 29th & 30th, 2018

On October 29th & 30th, the TBIC hosted its Annual Meeting & Conference 2018 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, with more than 70 attendees, including TBIC Community and Corporate Members, Advisory Council Experts, European automotive suppliers and distinguished outside guests.

Monday, October 29th, saw the TBIC Annual Meeting - our exclusive member-only event to discuss the strategic orientation of the organization. Thus, the staff of the TBIC was joined by members of the Advisory Council to discuss past projects and future opportunities.

The TBIC Annual Conference was held the following-day, as a high-profile event on transatlantic FDI. The Conference was opened by remarks by Matthias Beier, President and CEO of the TBIC, John Sampson, President of the Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership, and Indiana Secretary of Commerce Jim Schellinger.

The first panel of the day looked into the sometimes tumultous current state of transatlantic affairs, and how the political headwinds might impact foreign direct investment flows. Experts included representatives from the TBIC, American Electric Power, Smith, Gambrell and Russel, a local automotive company and SABA - the Slovenian American Business Association.

The second panel of the day was introduced by a representative of the Center for Automotive Research (CAR), who provided the audience with a detailed overview and up-to-date statistics on trends in the transatlantic automotive market, including recent investments. After the keynote, the Conference continued with the second panel of the day, where the expert from the Center for Automotive Research was joined on stage by participants of the TBIC Inbound Automotive Delegation, to talk about their hands-on experience in operating in the United States market as a European supplier.

After the first recipients of our TBIC & Navigator Consulting "The FDI-Qualified Community" Certification were asked on stage to receive their official certificate and following an extended lunch networking break, we proceeded with our last panel of the day. The panellists included the site selection experts from our Advisory Council, who discussed recent projects and future trends in transatlantic FDI in a Q&A session with our members.
